Any Occasion Card for a Great Occasion
The college graduate typically gets quite a lot of cards (and presents if they are lucky). I haven’t heard of the mother of the college graduate getting a card though. Is there even such a section in the greeting card aisle? There should be… I have a friend at work whose daughter is graduating soon, and I thought it would be nice to make a card to give to her for the occasion. I put to use some of my alcohol ink painted paper that I’ve been making. The vase is clear acetat

Painting With Stamp Ink {A Card}
Hello! What a weekend it has been. Our craft show was yesterday, and the day just flew by. The vendors were talented and great to work with, and our volunteers were helpful and happy. For our first time, I thought we did ourselves proud. It was lovely to just kick back and relax do laundry and clean up a neglected house today. I took some time to make this card with a technique that I found on YouTube. I found this sweet little bird at The Graphics Fairy. But it didn’t

A New Home Card thanks to The Graphics Fairy
Making a special card for such a momentous occasion, is such a joy for me. It’s a huge event that causes so many mixed feelings. There is the pride of ownership, the knowledge in the fact that you can paint the walls however you like, and finish a room in your very own style. The flip side of that happiness, is the stress and worry. What if something breaks down? There isn’t a landlord to call…you are the landlord. However stressful this time might be, I think it’s an impor

Autumn Card with Flower Soft and The Graphics Fairy
It’s September fourth. Do you know what that means? That’s right! It’s time to break out the Autumn color Flower Soft and make some stuff. That is what you were thinking….right? This is a very recently posted image over at The Graphics Fairy. Karen very kindly altered this in a couple of different colors for her readers. For this card, I stuck with the black image. I have had this scrapbook paper in my stash for years and years. It is totally smooth, but looks very texture

Castle Card…Fit For a Queen
One of the things I did this summer, was work at the camp at my school. Each week had it’s own special theme, complete with activities and coordinating snacks. Every detail was thought through, including how the classroom would look. One of my friends scoured the neighborhood appliance stores for empty refrigerator boxes. Their purpose? To become appropriate structures for camp. For space camp, she constructed a rocket ship. For science camp, they became an entrance to our

Use your Silhouette to make a card template
Today, I wanted to show you how I took one of my favorite cards, and made it with my Silhouette (Rocco). I recently made this card for my friends who moved into their house. You may remember…I made them this subway art sign here, as well. Before Rocco, I had a paper template that I would trace onto paper and then cut out. It occurred to me that I could recreate it on my Silhouette. I used the line and shape tools to draw the parts of the house, and now I have a template. I e

Wedding Cake Card with The Graphics Fairy
It was a gloriously sunny and hot day for a wedding yesterday. The bride was stunning, the groom was as handsome as could be. They are a lovely couple with a bright and happy future. I knew that I wanted to make them a wedding cake card. After perusing Karen’s blog, The Graphics Fairy, I found just the right image to help me out. As you can see, I used the doves in the second tier of my cake. I printed it onto vellum paper and sprinkled sparkly embossing powder over it w

A different take on a bridal shower card
Have I got a near miss story for you! I told you how one of my many wonderful nieces is getting married in a few days (Yay!!). I helped her out with a couple of projects which you can find here and here. Since we had picked out some kitchen items from their registry, that is where the inspiration for her card came from. This is how I wrapped brought the gift. The cellophane that you see is a set of school themed perpetual blocks. The bride mentioned that she liked them a

(Just about) Any occasion card
Brag Monday at The Graphics Fairy is only hours away, so I made this simple and sparkly card so I could join in. Isn’t that image pretty? I think so too. I cut the card out of white card stock on my Silhouette, and added the pink washi tape. Easy. Peasy. I printed the image onto card stock and brought out my collection of Stickles. I kind of love them–I know it’s hard to tell… I used them to add detail and sparkle to the already beautiful picture. This is what it looked lik

Happy Father’s Day, Sport!
Happy Father’s Day to all those dads out there! Being that we are huge baseball fans here, I thought this card was appropriate… The image is from none other than The Graphics Fairy herself. I love all of the baseball images she has, I have used them in projects before. I added the “Happy Father’s Day” text in Picasa, and printed it on white card stock. For the framed corners, I added black washi tape and trimmed it before taping it to my green card. Here’s where “Rocco” (my

Thanks for the soup {a card}!
Yes, I think it’s true. I do believe I can make a card for just about anything. If this doesn’t cinch it–I don’t know what will. I love my job. Yesterday, at the end of our morning class, a mom stopped me in the hallway and handed me a bag. She made me and my fellow teachers some outrageously delicious broccoli cheddar soup. Just. Because. I had to make her this… I downloaded the image from this site here. I sent it to my Silhouette (Rocco), and presto! The paper I used

A card for a friend using The Graphics Fairy and my Silhouette
An alternate title for this post could be “How my husband became a Silhouette widower.” He came up with the term, so it must be really bad. So obviously I have been spending some time with my unnamed buddy (although I’m seriously considering Rocco…). I figured out how to download an image from The Graphics Fairy, and cut it out. It’s pretty slick… The dress form is originally very detailed, so it was very cool to have the machine cut out the outline. I attached it to a piec

Handsome thank you note
Oh those poor guys! Why does it feel like we send them thank you notes only a fraction of the time? I love making cards for dudes that aren’t boring and plain. Here’s an example… I started with a plain white note card, and added that lovely paper after rounding the corners. “Thank You” is stamped onto a gray vellum paper with StazOn Ink (which is the best to use on vellum–no smearing!). That fantastic strip with writing on the left hand side is washi tape. Get ready, beca

A card with Flower Soft and The Graphics Fairy
Originally, I was thinking I’d title this post, “My son the human backdrop.” This is why… I cropped most of him out (poor son one), but I needed to take these last pictures outside because it was too dark inside. Plus, it was windy, so I couldn’t put the card down. Thanks dude! This is the urn image from The Graphics Fairy that I used. The larger one is the wallet size and the smaller is the contact sheet size. Could there please be a happy medium? Not today. I went with

Monogrammed Birthday Card
Earlier this week I shared my gift of breakfast. Today, I wanted to show the birthday card that went with it. Oooh glitter! I haven’t used glitter since the “big guy” was coming to town. So yes, it’s been a while. If you’ve been coming here to visit for any amount of time (thank you!), you might recall that I love playing mad scientist with my different adhesives. I knew I wanted to cover the “D” in glitter, but it occurred to me that I could make things easier than the ba

Cute Baby Girl Card
…for one of the cutest little baby girls I’ve ever seen! A few months ago, I made this for her bedroom door. We finally got to meet her, so I wanted to make a pretty card for her sweet folks. I used a lot of different stuff for this, but I wanted to share how I made the hanger and dress. Ready for another favorite product of mine? I love this permanent colored copper wire from Artistic Wire Ltd. They come in two feet long pieces in a variety color pack. I chose the color

Kiss me… I’m not at all Irish!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I spent the day creating shamrock trails, making leprechaun hats, and hiding pots of gold. Not too shabby for a nice Italian girl! It was also my good friend’s birthday (how’s that for luck?). Happy Birthday! I wanted to show you the card I made… This is a white note card covered with a piece of cute birthday scrap paper. I rounded the corners before placing it on the front. I used my Cuttlebug to get the purple present and letters. I popped the

Moved to create
I love making a card that uses scraps of scrapbook paper. It allows me to pull out this bad boy… Anyone else have one of these? That seemingly bottomless plastic storage bin of scraps of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Oh sure, I’ve attempted to put like colors together, but that never lasts long. I’ve admitted to hoarding collecting scrapbook paper plenty of times. I own it! But I love my scraps too. You never know when you might need that two inch piece of pearl pink p

So…how was it?
Was your holiday wonderful? I hope that it was. Ours was nice–but over too quickly. Santa rocked it out again this year-whew! In the natural order of things (first gifts, then…), I thought I’d share a thank you card that I made using a beautiful pointsetta graphic from The Graphic Fairy herself. This was simple–trust me. After I printed the image, I punched the corners, and attached that picture to my red sheet music paper. I made those corners the same. I ran some red r
