A problem, a solution, and Earth Day
Happy Earth Day! What an appropriate day to share this post. Let’s begin, shall we?
In my war room/craft room, I produce a lot of crap. No, I’m not being hard on myself, I’m just talking about general scraps that naturally occur while creating.
This is my current garbage can…
So, there’s nothing wrong with this, right? Right. Except I also have this…
Wait…what did I do now?
Because someone acts like a spoiled toddler if I’m not paying attention to him, I have had to move my garbage to the top of my side table. It is not convenient. At.All.
This may look familiar. I used a similar cylinder for this vase.
I thought it was the perfect size to sit on my craft table and catch scraps. Hey, I figure if a certain famous personality can have a garbage bowl on her kitchen counter, I can have this.
The bottom was already attached, so it was ready to become gorgeous. I shopped through my scrap papers and punched out little squares. I grabbed my almost empty (gasp!) bottle of Mod Podge, and went to town!
Fun! I love patchwork, I truly do. That middle patch with Mom’s Taxi reads “The kids drive her crazy…She drives them everywhere else.” Have truer words ever been spoken? I didn’t think so.
This is the flip side. I used Tissue Tape to cover the top and bottom rims of my bucket.
I loved using recycled materials for this solution. Plus, those little plastic store bags that don’t fit regular cans fit perfectly in this one. Let’s see if I can cut down on the clutter now.
Happy recycling to you!
