Time for a change

Lately, I’ve had a strong desire to take some cash and check out some thrift stores and garage sales for pieces that I can refurbish.  The problem I’m having with that, is the lack of cash!  I have joked in the past that nothing in my presence is safe from paint, sandpaper, and Mod Podge, but you know what they say about joking about something.  Take for instance this puzzle.

The date on the back says 2000, so we’ve had it for a bit.  My kids outgrew it long ago, but because my father-in-law made it, I couldn’t part with it.  It has been rescued from our donation pile quite a few times.

Remember my recent cow project?  I’ve got a little theme going here…indulge me won’t you please?

Whew!  I love the end result, but I won’t lie, this was a labor of love and perhaps a little obsession.  I sanded it lightly, and Mod Podged  pieces of my papers onto the puzzle pieces.  Thankfully, I remembered to number the back of my pieces (can you imagine?).

I sanded the edges, sealed everything with Mod Podge.  I did use some StazOn ink to distress the edges, I thought the white paint was too “new” looking.  The clock face is from The Graphics Fairy-of course.  I used One Step Crackle on all of the painted areas to give it some character.

Back to my basement to see what else I have to repurpose…maybe I’ll throw in a load of wash while I’m down there!
