Transform a simple frame into art
I won this frame a few months ago in a raffle. I knew immediately, that it would not be put on a wall in my home until it underwent a major change. Here is the after picture…
So you have something to compare it to…
Can you tell I was dying to get started? The white frame had to go. It was a little beat up, and not in a distressed, vintage, fabulous way.
I spray painted the outer frame in Oil Rubbed Bronze, and the inner frames in Camp Green Krylon Dual.
Have you ever seen these? They are really beautiful wood shapes that are die cut. They come in a great assortment of shapes, and I think they are pretty reasonably priced. I’ve been dying to use them in some application, and I love how they worked for this project.
I mixed up my own wood stain using acrylic paint and water. I dampened a paper towel with it and sponged the wood hearts.
When they were the color I wanted them to be, I backed the smaller frames with coordinating papers. I just used a piece of tape, just in case I want to change them.
I stuck the hearts onto the paper with dimensional foam. I’m very happy with the way it came out, it’s a pretty big transformation, don’t you think?
